Cornhole and Other Backyard Games

Mention playing an outdoor game in a park or backyard, and most people will mention Frisbee right away. This is usually closely followed by horseshoes, badminton, hide and go seek, tag, and a few others that people remember from childhood. Croquet might be on that list as well. However, there is one major problem with all of those games ? not everyone can play them. What about your three year old niece or your elderly grandfather, or the cousin whose legs do not work, so he spends his days in a wheelchair? It seems unfair to relegate them to the sidelines all the time. There is a game though, that they all can play ? the Cornhole game. Some people also call it the bean bag game or the bean bag toss, but the principle is the same. The Cornhole game is very easy to play, the instructions are not hard to understand, and it is also a lot of fun for everyone involved. Having a game that everyone can participate in helps to make family gatherings more enjoyable and more memorable, which is what they really should be about.

To play the Cornhole game, people need a game set, which can be either bought or built. Most people elect to buy them, especially if they are not good with their hands or comfortable working with wood. These sets can be purchased over the Internet quite easily, allowing them to be shipped all over the country to people who want to have the joy and togetherness of playing the Cornhole game with their family. The set consists of cloth bags, usually filled today with plastic pellets, and a wooden or plastic game board. The board sits on an angle, and has a hole in it. The object is to throw the bags and get them through the hole, scoring valuable points. Bags that do not go through the hole, but that land on the game board and stay there, are also worth points, but not as many as if the bag went through the hole. It is possible that not everyone will enjoy the Cornhole game, but most people who play it love it ? so much so that there are tournaments held for people who want to compete against each other and win cash and prizes.

Because the Cornhole game is so easy to play, young and old alike can enjoy it. It helps to make memories of family that children will have all of their lives, and it brings joy to relatives that might be elderly or sick, and not able to do that much. It is one of the simple pleasures in life, and a lot of people have forgotten how to enjoy these because society has become so fast-paced anymore. The people who take the time to assemble with their families and play the Cornhole game, however, see the value, not only in the fun but in the memories that they will make with those that they care about, and these will always last.
