Sun Protection - Tanning And Burning

Tanning and burning are two intentional or unintentional consequences of being out in the sun. Most people willingly seek out the healthy glow that sun can produce. Yet two people, spending the same amount of time exposed to the same sun intensity often will come home with far different results. Why is it that one might come home in agony while other comes home looking sleek and glamorous?

The answer has a lot to do with a person's skin type. Other factors can influence the end result such as taking certain prescription medications and using certain types of skin care products, so let's take a closer look.

When skin is exposed to the sun without adequate sun protection, the exposure causes melanin, the pigment in the body that gives skin its color, to rise to the surface of the skin. One of the roles melanin plays is protecting skin from the sun. People with light or fair skin have less melanin whereas people with dark complexions obviously have more melanin. Since melanin protects the skin from the sun, it makes sense then that those with less melanin have less protection and vice versa. Darker-skinned individuals tan more often than they burn, but not always.

Because a burn takes a few hours to develop, most people don't realize they may be burning. They might not reapply sunscreen or cover up if they're not feeling burned. Unfortunately, it's usually not until later that they realize just how bad the situation is.

What To Do When You Get Sunburned?

In addition to the embarrassing skin color you get from sunburns, there will be other symptoms. You might feel nauseous and dehydrated, and dizzy or light-headed. After a few days, sunburned skin will begin to peel and unlike what many people think and hope, sunburned skin will not develop into a tan.

There isn't much you'll be able to do to alleviate the above symptoms of sunburn. You'll definitely want to put on minimal, loose-fitting clothing as any rubbing against the burn will be painful. A pain reliever such as aspirin or acetaminophen will help minimize pain and discomfort. Keeping the body cool is the best thing for sunburns so fill a tub with cool or tepid water and soak. And promise yourself that next time, you'll use sun protection!

Do not immerse your body in a tub full of vinegar or rub the burn with butter. These remedies have been around for years but they're not effective ways to treat sunburns. In fact, it's often advised not to apply lotions or creams because you never know whether the product will intensify the pain or relieve it. And some products, including butter, might trap the heat and cause more discomfort.

If the sunburn is accompanied by blisters, you may have a severe second-degree burn. Blistering is normal after a few days but right away it's usually a sign that the sunburn is bad. In this case, it's advisable to seek medical attention right away

So You’re Thinking About Facial Implants

Well, you’re not alone. An average of 350,000 men and women in the United States get facial implants annually. Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) was the most used; but other facial implant procedures target the chin, jaw and the cheeks.

Facial implants can bring a more harmonious balance to a face. Whether it is to create a stronger more sculpted jaw line or to raise cheekbones, facial implants can be the answer to enhance your appearance.

So what do you need to know about getting facial implants?

First, look for a plastic surgeon that you trust. The basis for your trust has to be more than just thinking the doctor “seems okay.” You may feel embarrassed to ask, but it is well within your rights to inquire about the doctor’s credentials.

It is also perfectly acceptable to ask how many procedures (like the one you intend to have done), has the doctor previously performed. Getting recommendations from friends and acquaintances you trust is a good place to start.

(As a side note, do not be misled into thinking that a plastic surgeon and a cosmetician / aesthetician are the same. THEY ARE NOT. A plastic surgeon has gone through medical school and is licensed to perform surgery. Cosmeticians and aestheticians don’t have such training and are not allowed to carry out procedures like facial implants.)

Once you’ve decided which doctor to use, share what you want to achieve with the procedure with him: don’t expect the doctor to read your mind. If you find describing your desired look difficult, try taking some pictures to him as examples of the type of chin, jaw, or nose you desire to have following the surgery. Some doctor’s clinics have computer programs that can simulate an implant’s effect on the face to help with your decision of what you really want.

Next, be honest with your doctor regarding your lifestyle. Don’t start lying about your smoking habits just because it’s a doctor who’s asking you. Details like those are important for your plastic surgeon. It will help him / her address possibilities for infection and so that you can take steps toward a swifter recovery.

Finally, prepare yourself for the immediate effects of the procedure. Your body will react with a lot of swelling and discomfort, but this is natural as it is the body’s way of healing itself. Give it 7-10 days to relieve the swelling and a few more weeks before you participating in rigorous activities like sports.

Your new facial implant will greatly enhance your appearance. Just take the time to do your homework right.

Your Facial Plastic Surgery Checklist

Is It A Nose Or Face Lift? Cheek Or Chin Implants?

Whatever type of plastic surgery procedure you think you need (or want); there are things to consider so that you get the best results not only for your appearance, but more importantly, your health and your self-esteem.

1. Who’s Your Doctor?

This is the most important decision you will make; even above the issue of how expensive your face-lift will be. Plastic surgery is still surgery, which means certain things will be done to your body – which is something you should never take lightly.

Take the time to look for a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon that has performed, many times, the procedure you choose to undergo. You wouldn’t want to settle for a liposuction expert to work on your nose, right?

Also, make sure the person you are considering is a licensed doctor – because that’s what plastic surgeons are – doctors. They are not cosmeticians or aestheticians that took a 3-month course in some vocational school. For surgery, it’s a medical degree and nothing less.

2. Know What You Want (But Be Ready To Listen And Follow Your Doctor’s Advice).

Although they hold a medical degree, your doctor is not a psychic who can read your mind. You need to tell him / her what you want to achieve from the procedure. Bring pictures to give your doctor an idea of what you have in mind. You doctor may even have a computer program for this very purpose.

However, listen to your doctor if they give you advice (because that’s what you pay them for!). If, for example, your doctor tells you that the cheek implant you want still won’t make you look like Jennifer Lopez listen and adjust your expectations accordingly.

3. This Is Going To Hurt…

… at least for a while, immediately after the procedure. But don’t be scared, the swelling and discomfort are indicators your body is reacting to the surgery by healing itself. In 7 to 10 days, the pain and swelling should subside substantially. But even then, give yourself enough time to fully recover (about a month or so) before taking up activities that can strain your body.

Finally, make sure you really, REALLY want the procedure (and not just because someone made a wise crack at how you look or told you that you should have plastic surgery). Plastic surgery exists to enhance the appearance you’ve already have – not to fix something that’s wrong with you, because there isn’t. And that’s something you don’t need a medical degree to know for certain.

A Quick View Of Different Surgical Procedures That Can Improve Your Appearance

Surgical procedures that are performed to enhance appearance are referred to as cosmetic surgery. In the 2003 alone, an estimated of 15 million individuals underwent cosmetic surgery: the main reason, to boost self esteem.

Even though health insurance rarely covers the cost of cosmetic procedures, the number of people undergoing cosmetic plastic surgery continues to flourish.

Here Are Some Surgical Procedures:

1. Facelifts.

With age, the skin’s soft tissues lose their “elasticity”. Gravity then allows the skin to loosen and show sagging and deep lines which make you appear old and tired. Facelifts and other isolated cosmetic methods offer both women and men a younger and more vibrant look as well as an improved outlook.

2. Blepharoplasty.

Also referred to as eyelid surgery, is done to correct the “tired look” of eyes brought about by excess drooping skin from the upper eyelids and “bagginess” of the lower eyelids.

3. Facial Implants.

Are a stable or lasting technique that creates proportion and balance to the face. For instance, a withdrawing chin can be corrected through a “chin implant”, or a “sunken” appearance of the face can be corrected through cheek implants. You can also enhance thin lips through lip implants.

4. Rhinoplasty.

Also referred to as “nose reshaping” is the alteration or improvement of the nose by changing its’ shape by surgical means. Generally, rhinoplasty is performed to eliminate bumps on the nose’s bridge area, to straighten a crooked nose, lift a small nose, or reduce a “bulbous” tip.

5. Ear surgery.

Also known as otoplasty, is generally done to correct abnormally protruding ears. Usually, if only one ear protrudes both ears undergo surgery to attain balance. Otoplasty is also performed to reduce the size of large ears.

6. Eyebrow lift.

This is performed for patients who want their eyelids and eyes enhanced.

7. Neck Lift.

This is performed to reduce sagging and lines or can be done as part of a total “face lift” procedure.

If You Decide To Have Cosmetic Surgery, Keep These Guidelines In Mind:

- With cosmetic surgery, less is better. Too frequently “facelifts” result in a distorted and unnatural appearance.

- Make certain that your surgeon is “board certified” and experienced in his field. Research well before deciding.

- The risk is greater when surgery will be done in a clinic rather than in the hospital.

- Before deciding to undergo cosmetic surgery, give your skin a few months to try skin rejuvenation topical treatments because the results can be dramatic and may change your mind about cosmetic surgery.

Celebrate a new you after your surgery; your appearance is certain to be enhanced, giving you greater self confidence with which to face the world!

Does Your Makeup Contain Harmful Ingredients?

Did you know that many of the major cosmetic companies produce makeup products made with harmful ingredients that can harm your face? Many women in their daily lives use make-up. Most, in any case, use make-up during special occasions. Whether you fully do up your face every morning or you simply wear a bit of lipstick when attending holiday parties, it is important to use products that are safe for your skin. Learning how to weed out these potentially dangerous chemical products is important.

Why do companies use dangerous products? Simply put, any business has a single overlying goal-to make money. Cosmetic ingredients that are harmful are often the cheapest alternative for the make-up that is being produced. Harmful ingredients also create a better-looking product in some cases. What they don't tell you is that after using that beautiful new shade of eye shadow, you could face skin problems.

Fortunately, many companies realize that consumers are growing increasingly savvy about the products they buy, especially products used to make up or clean the face. Our facial skin is sensitive, so it is important to use the best products available. Whether you want inexpensive or high-end products, there are cosmetics, moisturizers, toners, and other things available for you that do not have harmful chemicals on their ingredient list.

Some common harmful ingredients in makeup to watch for when purchasing items to be used on our faces include Methyl, Propyl, Butyl, and Ethyl. These are known toxins and cause allergic reactions in many people. These chemicals are extremely cheap, so are often used to kill any bacterial growth in your product. Many companies use them.

Also be wary of Propylene Glycol and DMDM Hydrantoin. These products are used in anti-freeze! Products such as these have been linked to abnormal kidney and liver function and can actually cause permanent damage to your organs.

As mentioned above, be especially careful of what you put on your lips as well. Most synthetic colors, like C Yellow 6, are dangerous for both your skin and your body, and when you put this chemical on your lips, you are essentially eating a poison. Once, this may not affect you, but after wearing the lipstick for a long period of time, you may start to feel the results. It's like smoking a cigarette every day!

To be safe, simply ask your dermatologist or regular family doctor for recommendations about what kinds of products to use. Be sure that the makeup you choose does not contain harmful ingredients and that it is safe in order to keep your skin healthy - the healthier your skin is, the younger you will look and the happier your will feel.

“Au Natural” - Look Natural For A Better You

A good principle to apply when putting on makeup is to appear that you did not actually put on makeup. The common terms for this look today is minimalist, nude, sheer, au natural – all of them meaning “less is more”. Looking natural is the way to go.

‘Au Natural’

The way to achieve an all-natural look is by using "invisible" makeup products.

With the casual and easy-going lifestyle of today, it would be inappropriate to have a “made-up” look. The beauty products that are used today still create a fresh look and inner glow.

The goal is to appear as if you are wearing no makeup when you are actually wearing the sheerest shades and tints of beauty products. Such a look can be achieved by using a sheer foundation that matches the skin tone. Applying a lighter or darker shade of foundation than the true color of your skin will create an unnatural appearance.

Next, apply a pale shade of lipstick with to give you that fresh, dewy look.

Take a look at some other beauty products that will give you that “au natural” look:

1. Non-foundation – these foundations are those that give you that “nude” color, depending on your skin tone, which create the illusion of not wearing a makeup base.

2. Light-tinted moisturizers – hydrating your skin has never been more fun. You can wear these light-tinted moisturizers under your make-up to add to your “au natural” look.

Look for brands that protect the skin. Moisturizers can be put under your make up and the sheer color will perfect the color of your skin giving you a blemish-free look.

3. Lip gloss or nude lipstick – for a natural look, use a product that will give a sheen to your lips.

You can use lip gloss by itself or over lipstick of a different, but light shade. Your goal is to appear as if the lipstick is barely there.

4. Invisible makeup products – there are eye shadows, lip tints, light eyebrow pencils, blushes and a host of other beauty products that will give you that fresh, just “out-of-bed” look.

By using the proper application you can have the natural, minimalist look that will show off the real you.

The woman of today wants to be accepted for who and what she is. By achieving an “au natural” look, you can show off the real you to the world – a woman who is not afraid to be her self and wants to be liked for what she is beneath the covering of minimal embellishments.

Beauty Products That Can Enhance Appearance

The cosmetics industry has an average growth of more than 20% every year because women are very conscious about their appearance in the presence of others. This has prompted many companies to research and develop better products for customers of all ages.

Simply putting on makeup is just one of the things needed to enhance a person’s appearance. The face should be properly cared for even when an individual is at home.

Before going to bed, a facial cleanser should be used to remove the makeup and dirt that was accumulated during the day. These cleansers are available in the form of creams and oils which can be purchased at the grocery store.

Another product that can remove oil and dirt is a facial mask. These are available in singles or in packs. All the user has to do is apply it to the face and peel it off after five minutes.

Puffy eyes are usually caused by fatigue. A person will notice some swelling or redness and this can easily be fixed by applying some eye gel. Cucumber, chamomile, and a cold compress can also be used for those who want to look beautiful when on a small budget.

Since the body is also exposed to dirt and other elements, purchase and use a body scrub every time you shower to wash away dead skin to feel refreshed.

Some men pay attention to the hands of a woman. The nails can be made attractive and sparkling by using a nail polish which is available in different colors. For those who don’t want to buy a polish they can simply use some lemon juice and nail buffer to create the same effect.

Women should not forget to give the hair some attention. Use shampoo and conditioner to make it look shiny and radiant. Some companies have combined these into one formula making it possible to buy one bottle instead of two.

The scent of a woman is another thing that attracts men. Don’t forget to use a good perfume which can be sprayed on during different times of the day.

Beauty products are available over the counter or recommended by a dermatologist. If a person experiences any allergic reaction, it is necessary to stop using a product(s) and consult a doctor.

There are many ways to enhance your appearance without spending a lot of money. Just compare the performance of the brands of a product before becoming a regular user of a product.

The Proper Application Of Makeup To Improve One’s Appearance

As people grow older, washing the face and applying an astringent is not enough. Women apply make-up on their face to make them stand out. There are many brands available and selecting the right one is needed to improve your appearance.

A concealer can help hide the dark spots on the cheeks and below the eyes. Select a color that is lighter than the foundation you will use. If the concealer is likely to cake, apply an eye cream beforehand.

Foundations come in different shades. You should choose one that is nearest your skin color. Most of these come in packs that have a small mirror and sponge for easy application. Uneven application should be fixed by using your fingertips. This can be applied as many as two to three times a day, depending on the person.

The cheeks are most visible when the person smiles. This will make it easier for the individual to brush up on spots that were not covered during the first coating.

The color of the eyebrows is an important part of enhancing your appearance. There are two ways to do this. The first is by using a pencil and the other is by using a brush. There are people who choose one over the other but most people have experienced better results when using a brush.

Women who want to stand out, especially at parties should use some eye shadow. Many brands have eye shadow in three different colors which can be used at the same time. The lightest shade of the three can be applied below the eyebrow, the medium should be used in the crease and the darkest shade should be applied on the eyelids.

Eyelashes can be improved by using an eye liner. A person can use this along the base of the lashes.

Besides an eye liner, an individual can apply mascara on the lashes. Most women choose a color which is similar to the color of the hair or a shade slightly darker.

The most important thing to do before going out is apply some lipstick. Many women choose the red tones but other shades that compliment your skin tone can also be used.

A person doesn’t always have to look glamorous when going out, but a few touches of make-up here and there are more than enough to make the your face stand out.

Use Makeup Right And Look Good!

For most women, being in a cosmetics and makeup store is much like a child would feel in a candy shop. There’s just so many good things around but you don’t know where to start! However, just as it is with having too much candy, too much makeup can cause undesirable results.

“Less is more” is a practical makeup mantra – which means makeup is to enhance your natural appearance, not to create an artificial one.

One way of knowing if you wear too much makeup is by being aware of other people’s reactions when you don’t have your makeup on. They should not be able to discern whether you are wearing makeup or not. If they aren’t, then you’re practically a master at your makeup routine. But, if people can readily tell you’re wearing makeup then perhaps you should look at these tips on how to use makeup to make a natural look your best one.

1. Skin Care

Your skin’s natural glow is your best makeup. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help the skin retain its moisture and elasticity. Keep your skin clean; never forget to wash your face before going to bed. Use light moisturizers regularly for your face and neck.

2. Foundation, Concealer, And Powder

For foundation, use shades that complement, not cover, your skin color. Apply them evenly over your face and neck. Your concealer should be one shade lighter than your foundation. Powder can either be used as a substitute for foundation or to set your makeup.

3. Eye Shadow, Liners, Mascara

Emphasizing eyes adds drama and impact to your face, but don’t to go overboard by emphasizing them too much. For day wear, a light liner and some eye shadow will do. At night, you can add a bit more color by using darker shades of liner, eye shadow, as well as mascara to lengthen the lashes.

4. Rouge

Some women tend to place rouge directly on the cheekbones in a round pattern; this effect only works on kewpie dolls. For women like you, lightly brush rouge upward from the base of your cheekbones, across the cheekbones and then toward the temples.

5. Lipstick

A bare or subtle shade is best for the daytime and it saves you the need to line your lips. Lip liners give a more contoured shape as well as help ‘keep in” the stronger shades of lipstick used for night wear.

Makeup exists to accentuate your face’s positive features; so take the time to know what those are and use these tips to help you put your best face forward.

Healing Your Way To Greatly Increased Vitality

Most people think of healing only when they are sick or injured, yet the process of directing healing energy into the body will provide far more benefits than simple corrective action.

Most of us scramble through life, trying to juggle hundred of tasks as part of our careers and pushing our bodies past all reasonable limits to keep up the pace. Rarely do any of us take vacations from our jobs, and when we do, we end up working to catch up on projects at home.

It's little wonder that we 'crash' at the end of each day on the couch in front of the TV and zone out watching mindless sit-coms, feeling totally spent and used up.

It doesn't have to be that way.

Imagine waking up each morning bursting with energy and raring to tackle the day. Imagine gliding from task to task with ease and a feeling of wonder as you notice how you affect everyone around you with your positive vibrations. Imagine coming home at night and looking forward to the opportunity to visit with loved ones and sharing many glorious insights into the nature of life.

The more I work with healing energies, the more I find life approaching that ideal.

Working with healing energies does not require you to hold a position within the medical community. You don't have to be a doctor, nurse, or therapist to benefit from a roaring vitality that lifts you out of the 'rat race'.

Actually, all you have to do is to have an intention to bless other people with good health from the quiet of your inner soul.

The reason this works is through the law of Karma. This spiritual law reflects the truth that whatever you send out into the world will come back to you multiplied. As you bless other people, the law of Karma works to return that blessing to you many times over.

In esoteric studies, it is sometimes taught that the quickest path to gaining Power is to sit quietly at home (or better yet, in a public place) and mentally bless everyone in the whole world. As your mind and spirit reach out to bless the world, you develop the ability to tap into a deep level of Power.

Of course, you could just hold an intention to direct healing energy into yourself, but then you wouldn't get the multiplication effect of Karma.

I can tell you from personal experience that the benefits of directing healing energy into yourself are far outweighed by the benefits of directing healing energy into others and letting Karma create a magnified healing influence on you in due course.

It may not be as quick, but it is far more powerful.

Give this idea a try for the next few weeks and watch your energy supply grow by leaps and bounds, filling you with such vitality that you won't know what to do with all the excess energy.

An Udderly Ridiculous Home Remedy

Home Remedies - Facts or Quacks?

That’s what I recently asked myself. Myths and legends often have their basis in a grain of truth. So I wondered if home remedies, alternative treatments, and folklore cures might also be based on truth. A little research provided these astounding results!

Itching For A Cure

Edward Jenner is widely credited as the father of the smallpox vaccination. However, twenty years earlier in 1774, a quick-thinking English farmer named Benjamin Jesty saved his family from smallpox using some pretty unorthodox methods.

Waiting Until The Cows Come Home

In 1774 the highly infectious and deadly smallpox disease was epidemic. Farmer Jesty, immune to the disease because he had survived it in childhood, feared for the lives of his pregnant wife and children. Many country folk knew that people who had previously caught the milder disease of cowpox from an infected cow did not catch the normally-fatal smallpox disease.

A Desperate Plan

Frantic to find a solution before his family caught the disease, Jesty took his family to a nearby farm where cows were infected with cowpox. He injected his family with diseased cowpox cells from the cows. Because vacca is Latin for cow, this procedure later became known as vaccination.

This Isn’t Bull

The mild cowpox disease came and went in the children. His pregnant wife had complications and required the aid of the local doctor. His family did not catch the deadly smallpox disease, but word leaked out. Poor Jesty was ridiculed by his neighbors, who expected his family to turn into cows, or at least grow horns!

Edward Jenner was a tireless crusader in promoting the benefits of smallpox vaccination. However, it was a desperate farmer who used his quick wit and country folklore to save his family 20 years earlier.

Regardless of whom history credits, this home remedy definitely rates as a fact rather than a quack!

Using Herbs For Health

Many people do not only use herbs in their cooking for added flavor, but did you know that many people use herbs for health or in a medicinal way? Herbs have long been used as an alternative from of treatment. Patients taking various medications can benefit by using herbs that can achieve the same effects. If you are looking for a different kind of way to treat some of your medical conditions, ask your doctor for more information about how herbal supplements can work for you.

Pharmaceutical drugs can have a harsh effect on the body. Herbal supplements, on the other hand, provide gentle care and side effects are less common. You can also get most herbal supplements without a prescription, making it easier and more cost effective for those who do not have health insurance. Many herbal remedies are made by a number of companies and not all products are of the same quality. Your doctor should be able to provide you with a list of the best herbs for health as well as the ones to avoid. Check the labels to be sure that there are not chemical additives or diluting agents in your herbal supplements so that you are getting what you pay for.

The Chinese have especially worked at developing herbal medications for use in the place of more traditional medications for a pharmacy. Herbal teas, powders, and pills are commonly used in conjunction with other traditional Chinese Medicine, or TCM, such as acupuncture. A variety of herbs for health are used here, and you may drink tea or take a supplemental pill before, during, or after your procedure to best benefit your body. You can also purchase specialized herbal mixtures from many TCM professionals, which are mixed directly in the practitioner's office. Be sure you only purchase herbs from licensed professionals.

Herbs can be as dangerous as prescription medications if you use them incorrectly. It is most important to follow your doctor's instructions, as overdosing can cause adverse side effects. Also be sure to tell your doctor about any other medications or herbal supplements you are currently taking, since herbs can react with one another in various ways. It is best to always be safe and talk to a professional about herbal care rather than purchasing the supplements on your own. A doctor can do a better job at regulating your doses and combining the many herbs available in the most productive way for your body. Using herbs for health is a great way to feel healthier and relieve pain, but only if used in the correct way.

Will Alternative Magnetic Therapy Work For You?

Alternative magnetic therapy has become popular in recent years because people are seeking non-intrusive and safer forms of treatment for pain and illnesses. Among new ideas that are being studied for effectiveness is the use of magnets for relief from the pain of various forms of arthritis and other painful illnesses. Although study results about their effectiveness are varied, some people believe strongly in the use of magnetic therapy. This option should be explored and considered if you too suffer from arthritis.

It is believed that magnets, when held against the skin, relax blood vessels, allowing more blood to flow to painful areas and, in consequence, stop the pain faster and more thoroughly. It is also said that the magnetic field prevents muscle spasms and interferes with the nerves reaction to pain. Skeptics do not believe that muscles prevent or cure pain, but that the effect is simply that of a placebo-you think that you are being cured so you mentally believe that it is true. Mind over matter is the phrase associated by skeptics speaking about many alternative medical treatments.

Alternative magnetic therapy may work for you, but there is no telling until you try. You can purchase magnets in a variety of shapes and sizes, but most therapists and companies that promote their use suggest magnetic jewelry, belts, and straps that can be worn on the body at the inflicted area. Prices range from at little as five dollars to as expensive as several thousand, depending on size and number of magnets and quality of workmanship on the product. Choose a magnet that is fairly strong. Magnetism is measured in gausses, with a typical refrigerator magnet being at about 100 gauss, and this strength is too weak to penetrate the skin. 450 gauss is the lowest strength that should be used for medicinal purposes, and magnets advance in strength as they get pricier. Stronger magnets, however, will work better, so you get what you pay for in most cases.

Magnets used for health can either be placed directly over the point of the pain or over the acupuncture point associated with the pain. A professional can help you determine placement. Arthritis is the most common affliction healed with magnetics, but they can also be used for back pain, headache, tennis elbow, and foot pain, as well as a number of other aches and pains. Your doctor can give you more information on their use if you decide alternative magnetic therapy is right for you.

Massage Therapy Techniques For Health

Many people get massages because they feel nice, but did you know that certain massage therapy techniques could also benefit your health? Massage techniques, when done properly, can not only decrease stress and relax your muscles, but they can also improve your immune system, relieve pain, cure headaches, help injuries heal faster, and retain your muscle and joint mobility. It you are having difficulties in any of these areas and traditional medical procedures are not working, talk to your doctor about alternative therapy options, including massage.

There are a number of different kinds of massages, and a professional usually practices one or two specific kinds, so be sure to visit someone who can meet your needs. Traditionally, people get Swedish massages, which are focused on relaxation, or deep tissue massages, which are focused on loosening muscle tissues.

Some massages specifically target certain areas of the body. Cranio-Sacral massages focus on your neck, head, and spine and work to proper align this area and loosen tightened muscles in this area. Chi Nei Tsang is a type of massage that focuses on your abdominal organs and can help greatly with digestive pain or illness. If your joints are the problem, try The Trager Approach. These kinds of massages can help improve your life when done correctly, and you can also use them in conjunction with Swedish massage or other massage therapy techniques to directly target the problem and then relax the entire body.

Other kinds of massages that are meant to relax or relieve stress, such as the Rosen Method, but all massages should leave you feeling physically and mentally better. A few types of massages, like a deep tissue massage, can be slightly painful and should only be used if you doctor specifically recommends them to help your condition. Rolfing is one such technique, as it works to align your tissues correctly and straighten the spine. However, even after this massage, you should feel better, not worse. If your condition worsens, talk to your doctor and masseuse immediately.

Other kinds of massages that may work for you include the Alexander technique, acupressure, feldenkrais, reflexology, reiki, and the Shiatsu method. There are varied ways to use these techniques so research them all further before choosing to schedule an appointment. You can also learn how to perform simple massage therapy techniques on yourself to improve your comfort levels or purchase a massage chair for home use. Your doctor or a massage professional can help you choose which options are best for you and your body's specific medical condition

Mind And Body Movement: The Trager Approach

The Trager Approach was developed by Dr. Milton Trager over a lifetime. This technique, which combines therapeutic touch, massage, yoga, meditation, and other kinds of alternative medical practices, has been used effectively by millions to relieve pain and illness. Although Dr. Trager at first had a difficult time starting his medical career and promotion of this technique, an institute was founded in the 1980's especially for this practice, and it now offers certification in The Trager Approach.

The Trager Approach is a gentle and long-lasting type of therapy. Practitioners stress that the results are cumulative-meaning that the more times you see a professional, the better you will feel. The technique involves both mind and body, providing patients with a relaxing kind of treatment. To begin a session, patient and practitioner use a practice called the "hook up" that is similar to meditation. Here, touch is very important, as the professional will use touch and movement of your body to communicate with your physical and mental health needs.

The Trager Approach has two parts. The first part, done at a practitioner's office, is the "table work." Here, you lie on a padded table, similar to what you would do during a massage or acupuncture treatment. You can be fully clothed or partially clothed during table work, depending on your comfort level. The Trager Approach professional will then move your body in a number of natural ways to increase movement and better your health.

The second part of the Trager Approach is called "Mentastics" and can be equated to yoga. You will learn a variety of free-flowing Mentastics movements, which will allow you to explore your body's limits and feel more relaxed. Mentastics is taught in group classes, or you can find a personal coach, much in the same way as someone doing aerobics can search for a personal trainer. Mentastics techniques, once mastered, can then be practiced at home.

Many conditions can be treated with The Trager Approach. Commonly, it is used to treat back pain, stress, diseases causing limited movement, headaches, muscle spasms, depression, sports injuries, and emotional trauma. The Trager Approach can be used to treat both the physical and emotional sides of disease, so it is preferred by those having trouble coping with pain and illness. Your doctor can tell you more about The Trager Approach and direct you to professionals in your area that can teach you the technique.

Acupuncture Therapy For Your Health

Acupuncture Therapy may be for you if you've tried other various traditional types of medical treatment for an illness, but none have worked to your liking. Acupuncture therapy, which has been used since ancient China to cure everything from back pain to headaches to infertility. Today, doctors are learning more and more about the many real health benefits of acupuncture, so the practice is becoming widely accepted when it was once considered a primitive kind of treatment. Talk to your doctor so that you can fully understand if acupuncture can help you.

Acupuncture works by stimulating certain points on the body to heal you. A certified professional will first do an analysis by asking you questions about your health history and your current condition. He or she will also look at your skin color, tongue appearance, and dental health, as well as other things about your body.

Your acupuncturist will then decide on the best course of action. Traditionally, acupuncture looks for the root of the problem and fixes that rather than simply treating the symptoms. All health problems stem from the dysfunction of energy flow in the body. The acupuncturist will stick small needles into your body at specific points to relieve the stress placed on this energy flow and hopefully correct it. These points are in places all over your body, but the process should not hurt or otherwise feel uncomfortable. If you are still wary about acupuncture therapy, you can do a special type that involves only points on your hands. This hand acupuncture can still treat illness throughout the body.

When done correctly, acupuncture is safe and can be extremely effective. Your acupuncturist should be certified and have a legitimate business, so that you are sure that things stay safe. As with any technique that involves needles, make sure that your acupuncturist uses tools that are sterile. Your regular doctor should be able to direct you to a high-quality acupuncturist in your area so that you explore this treatment option. Acupuncture works best when used in conjunction with other forms of treatment, and can be used as a preventative method as well, so even if you are not currently suffering from any afflictions, you can use acupuncture to prevent medical conditions.

Although it is still a kind of treatment that is met with much skepticism, acupuncture therapy has proven itself in today's medical world. Pursue this option when nothing else has worked, and remember to keep an open mind about it and about all forms of alternative medical treatment.

Rolfing Therapy: A Modern Type of Stress Relief

Rolfing therapy is a physical technique that involves the manipulation of a body's soft tissues. Another term for this technique is structural integration. Rolfing organizes the relationships of soft tissues to each other in order to bring about a harmonious body structure and freer movement patterns. This is said to enhance s person's well being. It is currently being used in many circles of alternative medicine and is thought to be an excellent process for helping a person relieve stress and move more freely.

Ida Pauline Rolf is the woman responsible for creating this technique, which has been rightly named after her. In the 1950's Rolf used her knowledge in biochemistry to develop a method which involves a body's structural realignment in relation to gravity. She called this process Structural Integration of the Human Body. Ever since the 1970's, Rolfing therapy has been used as a technique to realign the body and create a more harmonious state of well-being.

The process of Rolfing involves touching the skin of a person in order to find any imbalances in the tissue structure of a body and to separate what Ida Rolf called fascial layers that adhere and muscles that have been pulled out of position due to strain or energy. Rolfing therapy is a massage-like technique that works to alleviate these tissues of any stress that may have caused them harm. Also, according to Rolfing, all parts of the body aligned, including ankles, pelvis, hips, knees, shoulders, etc. It is only in this way that the body will be balanced with gravity and thus in a state of deep relaxation and happiness. When a body is aligned, gravity is supposed to enhance a person's personal energy and bring about happiness and health.

Learning these techniques is hard to do, and a certified Rolfing therapist spends a few years studying the technique, which costs about $10,000. There is only one school, in Colorado, which teaches this technique, although there a couple other schools that teach similar techniques called structural integration rather than Rolfing. Although they are different in name, the techniques are generally the same.

There is some skepticism given to Rolfing, though therapists using the technique have found it to be successful and many clients have said to be relaxed and happy when they leave a Rolfing session. Using tissue therapy and the natural force of gravity, Rolfing therapy is continuing to grow and is becoming a more commonly used technique throughout the world

The Benefits Of Aromatherapy Essential Oils

The benefits of aromatherapy is the use of essential plant oils as an alternative from of medical treatment. Although its exact uses are still being explored, you should pursue this treatment if you want new and safe options for your medical condition treatment. Aromatherapy can be used to treat a variety of physical and mental illnesses, so it is becoming more popular for people who are not having success with traditional medical options.

Essential oils are most commonly used in aromatherapy procedures, although this term is often used as an umbrella term that includes true essential oils, absolutes, and CO2. Aromatherapy essential oils, it is important to note, are very different from fragrances, which also come in oil form many times. Some of the most common essential oils used in aromatherapy include sweet almond, cocoa butter, jojoba, olive, peanut, shea butter, and sunflower. Essential oils are purely produced with the plant of their name, and are highly concentrated. This differs from perfume oils and fragrances, which contain chemicals and are often diluted with water. Since there are no regulations, some companies incorrectly label perfume oils "essential." Check the label to see the ingredients to be sure you are using true essential oil.

Not all essential oils are good for aromatherapy, and some may even be hazardous to your health. Stay away from bitter almond, onion, garlic, rue, sassafras, camphor, wintergreen, and horseradish. There are other dangerous essential oils as well, so be very careful if you are attempting home therapy. It is best to seek professional help instead. He or she many use some of the aforementioned essential oils in very small doses, but aromatheripists are trained in how to use them correctly.

There are many benefits to aromatherapy essential oils. The smell can be drawn into your lungs to provide a multitude of physical and mental benefits, and the oils can be applied directly to your skin for other useful advantages. Carrier oils are used to dilute essential oils, since their power is so strong. When used improperly, because of their strength, essential oils can be very dangerous, so be sure you understand how to use them properly.

There are many aromatherapy products on the market that can be used in your home. Before purchasing, be sure that the company is not just claiming that their products are good for aromatherapy use, but that they actually do work. Sometimes other chemicals are used to give a pleasant smell, but this may be a fragrance and nothing more. This will not help you medically. One such product that you may often use in your home is the citronella candle, which has essential oils in it that act as a mosquito repellant. Other products can be used in your home in a similar way to benefit your health. Research this option fully to find out if aromatherapy essential oils can help you.

Improve Your Posture Using The Alexander Technique

Imagine this: You are in a profession in which you regularly use your voice. Overtime, it begins to be strained, which, unfortunately, effects your work. Looking in the mirror one day, you notice that your posture is not the best, and upon correcting it, you suddenly hear and see improvements in your speaking as well as in your overall health.

This is exactly what happened to Shakespearean actor Frederick Alexander. His technique, now know as the Alexander Technique, can be used not only to improve voice quality, but also to relieve back pain, improve posture, treat depression and anxiety, deal with stress-related illnesses, enhance performance capabilities for actors and dancers, and prevent strains from repeated activities. Other conditions, most in the mental and physical realms, can also be treated with the Alexander Technique.

An alternative medical treatment, the true effect of the Alexander Technique is still being studied and will be sure to attract skeptics for decades to come, as do other forms of alternative medicine, such as acupuncture, meditations, light therapy, and prayer. Studies have shown, however, that the Alexander Technique can work, so it is an option you should be sure to research and consider if you are looking for new treatment methods. Your doctor can teach you more about this technique.

The Alexander Technique is usually taught to clients who are treated with a series of half-hour- to hour-long classes. First, the patient is asked to lie on a table with knees bent, and the professional adjusts posture so that everything is correctly aligned. The treatment is then continued as the patient stands. A number of movements are preformed and the practitioner continues adjusting the client's posture so that eventually it seems like second nature. The goal of these sessions is to make movement free and as minimal and effortless as possible so that these techniques can then be employed in everyday life. It corrects your posture as you stand, sit, and lie down and can help you with everything from general posture to more specific alignment, such as the way you hold your head.

Of course, the Alexander Technique is not for everyone, and it depends on your current health condition. If your doctor believes that this technique will work for you, seek a licensed professional to help you learn the technique. He or she will teach you the skills you need to improve specific problems as well as your overall health, with posture.

Music Therapy Techniques Becoming More Popular

In 1950, the National Association for Music Therapy was formed, bringing music therapy techniques into the realm of professionalism. This was the root for music therapy. Using music as a cure for a person's physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well being has been practiced for centuries, although it was never referred to as a professional science. Even though everyone does not consider it so, music therapy still makes up a significant part of alternative medicine.

A physician, a psychologist, or a social worker often refers music therapy to someone, though there are many parents who turn to music therapy to help their children. For whatever reason someone comes under the care of a music therapist, they will always be in good hands. A music therapist is an extremely qualified individual with extensive education and training. Music therapists often work with the physically handicapped, the abused, the elderly, the terminally ill, or mentally retarded.

The techniques used in music therapy are varied, but all pretty much deal with expression of emotions and the calming of the body. For example, a music therapist may tell a patient to sing in order to express unspoken emotions that need to be released. Others may use piano playing as a way to increase fine motor skills, and some others may use instruments to help a patient illustrate his or her feelings. There are numerous applications for music therapy, making it an exciting and interesting field.

Although patients and clients involved in music therapy techniques are sure to increase their skill in using an instrument or in other aspects of music, it is not the main focus. Rather, music therapy focuses on other areas, such as communication, academics and the fine-tuning of motor and social skills. All of these areas can be impacted through the use of music, which has been proven by music therapists time and time again.

While music cannot cure or even aid in all types of disabilities or sicknesses, it is a useful tool for those willing to spend the time involved in it. Music therapy is used in many hospitals, rehab centers, and retirement homes as well as to help children with social problems in school. In fact, with the results music therapy has been getting in these fields, it wouldn't be surprising to see more music therapists popping up, and the act of music therapy techniques becoming more popular in the years to come

Homeopathy Medicine Vs Traditional Medical Options

Alternative medical options such as homeopathy medicine are becoming increasingly popular in our modern culture, since people are wary of what goes into their bodies. Traditional medical options often introduce harmful chemicals into the body or otherwise are at an organic disadvantage. However, most forms of alternative healthcare are safe and gentle on the bodies systems, so many patients prefer these options. Countless studies are now being completed to show the effectiveness (or lack thereof) of these alternative health options. One such practice being studied that many people are using is homeopathy.

Classical homeopathy can help with a number of illnesses and pains including, but not limited to AIDS, arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, headaches, PMS, dyslexia, insomnia, infertility, depression, digestive disorders, autism, and asthma. Your doctor or a professional who specializes in homeopathy should be able to help you learn more about the many varied adverse medical conditions with which homeopathic medicine can help. It is important to speak with your regular doctor before beginning any kind of homeopathic treatment so that you can be sure this option will work well for you and not further damage your body.

Homeopathic doctors look at disease and pain in a different light. With normal medical treatment, you go to the doctor who then diagnoses your condition and gives you medicine to heal the symptoms. Homeopathic professionals, however, assert that treating the symptoms leaves the underlying problem unattended. In short, your pain will return over and over again, because you are not fixing the root problem. This is a view on medicine that is shared by other alternative health professionals, such as acupuncturists and acupressurists.

Homeopathic appointments begin with a total assessment of mental and physical health. The first appointment will try to understand your state of well being in as complete of a way as possible, so it is important to know your health history as well as be completely honest about your current state of health. Natural remedies are then prescribed to help the entire system, rather than simply treating specific pains and other symptoms. These remedies are made from minerals and plant matter and are very organic, so harmful chemicals are not introduced into your body. Homeopathic medicine is used in very small amounts and is meant to help the body heal itself.

Homeopathic techniques are extremely effective when patients are suffering from chronic illnesses and have found that no traditional treatment works. If you believe that homeopathy medicine can help you overcome disease, speak with your doctor for more information.

What Is Polarity Therapy?

Polarity therapy is a technique that is based off the human energy field, which is comprised of the electromagnetic patterns expressed in mental, emotional, and physical responses. When someone is sick, it is said that their human energy field is in bad condition, and thus needs to be repaired through polarity therapy. Using energy-based bodywork, exercise, dieting, and self-awareness, polarity therapy is said to give the body a strong human energy field, and thus make it healthier.

Polarity therapy was first practiced by Randolph Stone, who published a total of seven works by 1954 that spoke of his findings in his research into using energy in the healing arts. He found that the human energy field is affected by touch, diet, movement, sound, attitudes, relationships, life experiences, trauma, and environmental factors. He applied his findings and theories during his medical career in Chicago and had tremendous success with the majority of his patients. After his retirement, some of Stone's students carried on his work and in 1984 the American Polarity Therapy Association was formed, Ever since then, polarity therapy has become an increasingly used form of medicine and has also become more diverse than when it was first thought up.

The energy of a person is supposed to flow smoothly and clearly. When it does so, a person is said to be healthy. However, blockages in the flow of energy can occur due to stress or other factors. When this happens, a body will become less healthy and pain and illness will occur. Polarity therapy looks for these blockages and attempts to get rid of them, allowing energy to flow freely once again and for health in a person to be restored. A typical polarity therapy session takes anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. During this time, various forms of touch and verbal interactions occur. The practitioner will use all degrees of touch on the client, whether it is light or firm, in order to help muscles relax, which is a great stress fighter. Also, the practitioner will try and make the client more self aware of the energy in his or her body, allowing the client to try and make the energy flow more smoothly himself.

Polarity therapy has been an excellent cure for many people, and often has great success in the realm of stress relief. After a therapy session, a person will generally feel more relaxed and happier. It's a great way to relieve tension and bring about a stronger sense of self-being

What's All The Buzz About Apitherapy?

New treatment options for old diseases and pains are being explored every day. While you may have heard of some of the major alternative medicine treatment options, like hypnosis and acupuncture, one you may not have heard about is called apitherapy. Apitherapy is the use of bee products to cure your pains, prevent serious medical conditions, or make life more comfortable for those suffering from chronic illnesses. Most people do not know about this technique, but you should explore it with your regular doctor to see if it may help you.

Apitherapy has been used in a number of ways to treat hundreds of illnesses, including heart disease, allergies, pneumonia, kidney and liver diseases, arthritis, insomnia, back pain, influenza, sore throat, acne, hair loss, sexual dysfunction, diabetes, lymphoma, stomach ulcers, malaria, schizophrenia, and alcoholism. As you can see, it treats a very wide variety of medical conditions, ranging from more serious diseases (like cancer), to uncomfortable but less threatening conditions (like hair loss). Your doctor can tell you more about the different diseases apitherapy can be used to treat.

Bee products can be introduced to your system in a variety of ways. First, you can take them orally. Pollen and honey can be made into capsules, powders, and liquids for your use. You can also be injected with bee products to get them into your system. Bee venom is especially used in this way. For the past few years, bee products have also been made into creams and ointments to apply to the skin. Eye and nose drops can be made with bee products as well.

Apitherapy can be used (and most often is used) in conjunction with other medical practices. For example, your massage might include an application of warm honey to the massaged areas or your dentist can use a bee product to rub on your gums, teeth, cheeks, lips, and tongue.

There are some health concerns with apitherapy, especially bee venom injection. It is illegal for anyone other than certified doctors to inject bee venom, so be sure that you are visiting a trained professional. Also, this can react with other medications, especially those for heart conditions, so tell your doctor what other medications you are taking before being injected. There are also specific doses that you should take to best treat your condition if you choose to pursue oral apitherapy, so speak with your doctor to regulate these doses correctly. He or she can help you use bee production in this unconventional way, and when paired with other medical treatments, this can be very effective in fighting your pain

Reiki Therapy: A Japanese Kind of Cure

What is Reiki therapy? There is a theory circulating the medical world that says every person walking the Earth is composed of energy. In Japan, this is known as Ki, or spiritual life force energy. It is said that when a body runs low on life force, it becomes more susceptible to disease, stress, and harm. In order to promote happiness and a healthy way of life, a body will need to be restored with energy. This is where Reiki comes in. Reiki therapy is a Japanese technique that relieves stress and brings about well-being in a person through the manipulation of life force energies.

The word Reiki is made up of two separate words in Japanese: Rei and Ki. Rei translates to "god's wisdom" or "the higher power," while Ki, once again, translates to "life force energy." Thus, Reiki means "spiritually guided life force energy." It's based on the idea that the power to control these energies and change them around within a person is a gift bestowed by a higher power. Yes, many practitioners of Reiki believe that a higher power allowed them to perform Reiki, but this is not a technique that is thought to be religious in nature by all. In fact, Reiki is not tied to any religion at all, though it does give many people a sense of a stronger tie to whatever religion they are part of. Reiki therapy is not powered on belief in any one deity or even in itself. It is a natural remedy for disease and emotional turmoil that will work whether someone believes in it or not.

Reiki works by laying your hands on another's body and increasing its life force energy. Once taught this technique, someone who practices Reiki is supposed to have an unlimited supply of life force energy to transfer to people. This may sound like a complicated procedure, but it's really quite simple. In fact, it can be easily taught to anyone, no matter how spiritually devoted the person is to anything.

If you're thinking about learning this technique yourself, you'll need to go through a class that is known as an "attunement." This is where the teacher will pass on the ability to perform Reiki to his or her students. It's a rather simple process that does not take into account a person's intellectual or emotional state at the time. In fact, Reiki has been taught to people of all ages, shapes, and sizes. If Reiki therapy interests you, look up a nearby Reiki master and take a class. It's easy to learn and believed by many to be a great all-natural stress reliever.

Civil War Bullet Collecting: A Hobby That Honors The Past

Did you know that during the Civil War, more than 1000 different types of bullets were used? This is one reason Civil War bullet collecting has become a popular hobby. Another reason is that the time of the Civil War saw changes taking place in the development of firearms and ammunition. The old round musketballs of the Revolution were being replaced with bullets in the shape we are accustomed to. While musketballs are found on Civil War battlefields, the most common type of bullet used was the .58-caliber bullet with three rings around the base. Many bullets found are splattered out of shape. If you've always been fascinated by the Civil War and firearms, Civil War bullet collecting is a hobby you will enjoy.

With the advent of Internet buying and selling, Civil War bullets have become more collectible, and the prices have gone up quickly. Not only this, sometimes sellers are not informed and ask more than the bullet is worth. For these reasons, if you are just starting out in Civil War bullet collecting, you will want to buy a good price guide. You can even find a price guide online if that works better for you.

Many Civil War bullet collectors also collect bullet molds and other relics from the Civil War era. A real enthusiast might even investigate the possiblility of becoming a Civil War reenactor, acting out battles with others in towns and fields across the Southeast.

Civil War bullets can be collected by buying from other collectors, or you can begin by going directly to the battlefields to dig and search. A metal detector will make Civil War bullet collecting easier. You may also find buttons from uniforms, bullet molds, belt buckles, and other metal items from the battle. Some of the bullets may be buried quite deep. You will need to wear a headset and pay close attention to the changes in tone in your metal detector. Hunting Civil War relics is prohibited on protected battlefields, but there are still old homesites where battles were fought. Be sure to get permission from the owner and fill any holes you dig.

Some people have the idea that hunting for bullets with a metal detector indicates a lack of respect for the soldiers who died there. They get this idea because sometimes bullet hunters find bones along with the bullet. The fact is, however, that many of the bullet hunters who have found bullets this way have chronicled and mapped out there finds, resulting in many of the facts that we now know about the Civil War.

The Civil War fascinates Americans because of everything it stands for. While everyone agrees that slavery is a terrible blot on the history of the U.S., there are some people who still discuss the issue of states' rights versus a strong central government. Civil War bullet collecting is an iteresting hobby, though somewhat sobering at times when considering the great number of casualties. The memory of brother fighting against brother out in the cornfields and pastures will never go away. Civil War bullet collecting is one way to commemorate this monumental historical event

How To Make A Jewelry Wholesale Catalog

So you want to sell your jewelry? Well, selling jewelry wholesale is a big business, and you definitely need a catalog of your offerings! Making a catalog isn’t as difficult as you might think. First, you have two options: an online catalog or a print catalog. The choice is yours.

Overall, an online catalog is the least expensive way to advertise your jewelry wholesale company – but with all of the online jewelry stores and online wholesalers, it may not be the most effective way to make sales. A print catalog should strongly be considered for a direct mailing.

If you make your own jewelry, you will need to get good pictures of the jewelry – preferably laid on a velvet setting. Black or blue velvet will bring out the jewelry the most. You can take these pictures yourself with a digital camera, or have a professional take the photographs. It is cheaper to do it yourself, of course.

Load the pictures up onto your computer, and use publishing software, such as Microsoft Publisher to design and layout your catalog. This may take a little time and patience, but it is much cheaper than having someone else do it.

Since you will need hundreds, if not thousands of copies of your catalog, your best bet will be to save the catalog on a CD and take it to a print shop that can handle the job. This will cost money – especially since the pages need to be glossy and in color, and the catalog will need to be bound – but this expense will be well worth it if you will be doing a mass direct mailing.

In order to do a mass direct mailing, you simply find a reputable company who either sells mailing lists or does the mailing for you. You can actually request lists of mailing addresses where the person has expressed an interest in purchasing wholesale jewelry – or any other criteria that you set. In most cases, it is best to have the company handle the mailing for you. They will get the best rates on the mailing because they can use the bulk mail rate.

Make sure that you use a reputable printer, and a reputable direct mail company! This is an investment in the future of your business, and your jewelry wholesale catalog needs to be perfect in every way – and the mailing needs to go off without a hitch

How To Open An Online Jewelry Store With Jewelry Wholesale

Opening your own jewelry store has never been easier than it is now. In fact, you can use the Internet to open your own online jewelry store and never stock a single piece of jewelry! In fact, your jewelry store could be open for business in less than a day – and the only thing you would need to do is market it! This is pretty much an instant business.

First, find jewelry wholesale suppliers. If you want a truly ‘hands-off’ business, find a wholesaler who will drop ship to your customers. This way, you never have to handle any of the stock. Here is how it works. You get your website set up, with an online catalog of all of the jewelry that you offer. You market that site to the public. Customers start visiting your site, and they place orders. You forward those orders to the drop shipper, and the drop shipper handles the rest!

Most wholesalers will require you to pay for the merchandise before it is shipped. This shouldn’t be a problem because you will require your customers to pay for their orders at the time the order is placed. Of course, you charge more for the jewelry than the wholesaler charges you.

In most cases, you will be allowed to set your own prices. Look to see what the wholesaler charges you, including shipping, then add 15% to 30% to that price. This is what you should charge your customers.

If you aren’t sure how to go about setting up a website, you can probably find a wholesaler who will provide you with a website. Most of these wholesalers charge a fee for the site, and your site will usually look like all of their other distributors. This should be your last option.

You may consider opening an eBay store. There is a fee for this as well, but at least your store will be unique. You can also bypass the eBay store and simply set up eBay auctions, which are very affordable for everyone. Make sure that you set a minimum reserve price for the jewelry that you are selling so that you don’t lose money, and make sure that the buyer pays all shipping costs and insurance.

Again, setting up an online jewelry store with jewelry wholesale is one of the easiest ways to start a business today. You can literally be up and running in a few short hours, and making money within twenty-four hours of ‘opening your doors

How To Sell Jewelry Wholesale

If you are a creative person, with a great sense of style and flair, you may be able to start your own business – making and selling jewelry wholesale. Because people are so very unique, they want jewelry pieces that are unique – one-of-a-kind pieces that nobody else in the world owns! This desire can make you quite a bit of money – simply start your very own jewelry wholesale company.

You can easily order wholesale supplies from hundreds of companies around the globe online – at really low prices. It is important to keep up with how much each part of each piece of jewelry costs you, and to get a total cost of each piece, including any expenses that you had for having supplies shipped to you. With the total cost figured, you can easily set your prices by adding 15% to the cost.

You can sell your pieces in a variety of ways. You can open your own online wholesale jewelry store, sell to local jewelry stores, rent booths at local flea markets and fairs, or advertise your jewelry making skills and take orders for unique pieces. You can also sell your pieces on consignment at boutiques.

You want to be known for your quality. Always select the highest quality gems and stones for your pieces, and make sure that the craftsmanship is outstanding. Become exclusive, and more people will want to purchase your pieces – and never make any two pieces alike.

However, you can also go the other route and make hundreds of identical pieces, as they are ordered. You do this by making one very unique, high quality piece, and showing it to your local jewelry stores. Ask them if they would like to order in bulk, then fill the order.

Another option is to do catalog sales. Make enough pieces to fill a small catalog, and take pictures of each piece. Write a description for each piece and then put together your own catalog using software and a good printer – or send the work to a print shop. You can send these catalogs out to a list that you obtain from a direct mailing list company.

This type of business does require creativity and skill, but it also requires the ability to market yourself and your jewelry. You need to have business cards printed, and also have catalogs and brochures printed as well to market your jewelry wholesale busine

Jewelry Wholesale And eBay Auctions

eBay is a great place to find almost any item that you can imagine. Jewelry wholesale auctions are quite common on eBay, and in many cases, you cannot beat the deals that are offered here. However, there are also many con artists that operate through eBay, and you have to use caution.

Start by reading all of the fine details about the jewelry wholesale lots that you are purchasing. If you still have questions, send those questions to the seller through eBay’s website. Make sure that you keep all of your contact with the seller through the website so that there is documentation.

Check out the person or company that is offering the jewelry wholesale. Look at their ratings and their feedback. Has there been any negative feedback? If so, you may want to reconsider your options and look into other auctions. If the feedback is all positive, and the seller’s rating is high, doing business with them should not be a problem.

Make sure that you are clear about shipment costs and the shipment time frame, as well as the payment options offered. Usually, the buyer is responsible for the shipment costs, and this is added to the total and paid before the item ships. In the case of high ticket items, insurance may be required on the item as well. The seller seldom pays the shipping costs.

If the jewelry wholesale is a high ticket item, such as jewelry that is bought in bulk or rare pieces of expensive jewelry, you should strongly consider using the escrow service that is recommended by eBay. If the seller recommends any escrow service other than the one that eBay recommends, you might not want to do business with this seller – it could be a scam.

Beware of sniper’s on eBay! Sniping is against the rules at eBay, but a large group of people do it anyway. Sniping is automatic bidding, which is not against the rules, but the software or service is instructed to place the highest bid in the last possible minute of the auction – leaving no time for anyone else to place a higher bid. Again, this is against eBay’s rules.

Instead of sniping, place your first bid at the maximum amount that you are willing to pay for the jewelry wholesale lot. Each time the bid is raised, your bid will automatically be raised – until your limit is reached. This is not sniping, and it is a perfectly legal way to bid on auctions at eBay.

How To Buy Diamond Jewelry Wholesale

There may come a time in your jewelry making career when you need to select diamonds for a special piece you are working on. Buying diamonds is much like buying any other gem – you find one that is the right size or shape for the piece you are making and you purchase it. WRONG. Much more thought and consideration must go into purchasing a diamond. After all – Diamonds are forever, and you want your jewelry wholesale to last forever too.

There are four C’s when it comes to buying a diamond: cut, clarity, color, and carat weight. All of these must be considered because you want the diamond used in your jewelry wholesale to be as beautiful as possible. Remember that the diamond should not overpower the entire piece, but it should be the main attraction and compliment the rest of the piece as well.

The cut of the diamond does not refer to the shape of it. It refers to the way that it was cut – the quality of the cut. The shine and fluorescence of the diamond is determined by how it was cut. The shape of the diamond is only a second factor – or an after thought – in terms of the quality of the cut.

The clarity of a diamond does not refer to how clear it is. Instead, it refers to how perfect or flawless – or imperfect – a diamond is. There are internal imperfections and external imperfections. A diamond that has no imperfections is flawless – and expensive.

Diamonds come in many colors. The most common are white and yellow. Other colors are available, but they are rare and expensive. The only color you should never consider is a ‘blue white’ diamond. A jeweler may try to tell you that this is a rare quality diamond, but it is in fact an inferior diamond, and you have no use for it.

The carat weight of the diamond will be important to your customer. Large diamonds should come with a certificate. You should request this from the company that you are purchasing the diamond from. If they refuse to give you a certificate from a reputable grading company such as GIA, walk away.

The chances are good that you will put more work and thought into purchasing diamonds for your jewelry wholesale than in any other gem or stone. Diamonds are by far the most popular gemstones in the world – and with good reason. Not only are they the most beautiful stones, but they are also the most durable stones on the face of the earth – or under the earth for that matter!

How To Repair Wholesale Jewelry

If you make jewelry wholesale, then you definitely need to know how to make repairs to the jewelry that you sale. If you can offer your clients free or discounted repairs, you will find that you have better customer relations. Also, you need to have the ability to guarantee your pieces and offer free repairs for a specified period of time after the sale. This is just good business – and it will set you apart from many of your competitors.

If you’ve made the jewelry, you probably already know how to repair it. The repair that is needed is probably the simple replacement of a piece on the jewelry, such as a clasp or replacing a stone that has come lose. This type of work can usually be done quickly, and at very little expense.

If you don’t make the jewelry yourself, you still need to offer free repairs for a specified period of time. Again, this is just good business. In this case, you need to learn some jewelry repair, and you need to purchase some jewelry making or jewelry repair tools. These tools are very small, and they were specifically designed to make or repair jewelry. For the most part, these tools are very inexpensive.

One piece of equipment that you will need is a magnifying glass that stands on its own, allowing you to use both of your hands. You also need very good lighting that can be pointed directly onto the jewelry that you are repairing. Both of these are essential if you want to do a good job, and avoid eye strain at the same time.

You will need some jewelry making supplies as well, such as extra clasps, chains, and possibly even gemstones. Of course, you don’t want to keep too much of this on hand, as you may never use any of it…so use your best judgment here.

Before you rush out and purchase a book or course on jewelry making and repair, find out if the company that you order the jewelry wholesale from in the first place has any guarantees. If so, you don’t need to learn anything. Simply have your customer ship the jewelry back to you, or directly to the company, and they should take care of the repairs. However, follow up for your customer – don’t leave the customer to deal with the wholesale company on their own – that is bad business! If the jewelry wholesale company doesn’t treat your customer right, it will reflect on you!

How To Find Jewelry Wholesale Supplies

No matter what you may need jewelry wholesale supplies for, there are a variety of sources for obtaining them. However, in most cases, you will find the least expensive supplies through online sources. This is due to the fact that you literally have the whole world of jewelry wholesale supply sources at the touch of a button – and those companies are all in competition with each other.

Whether you are looking for stones, crystals, beads, catches, or other supplies and tools, you can find everything you are looking for online – at really great prices. You can order the supplies directly, or request a catalog from hundreds of different suppliers. In many cases, when you place an order, you will be put on the mailing list, and you will automatically receive the catalog periodically without having to ask for it.

You should never pay for the catalog. Avoid sites that ask for payment to receive the catalog, or sites that require you to pay for membership. You can expect, however, to be required to register at the sites that you do business with – at no charge. It is also important to check the refund and exchange policies for each site that you do business with.

If you have any doubts as to the legitimacy of an online business, check them out with the BBB online. If there have been any complaints, the BBB will have a record of it, and that information is available to the public at no charge.

eBay is another option. You can find a wide variety of jewelry wholesale supplies through these auctions, but eBay cannot be depended on as a steady supplier. When you do find supplies that you wish to bid on or purchase through eBay, make sure that you check the seller’s rating and feedback before making the bid or purchase!

If shopping online makes you really uncomfortable, there are other ways to find jewelry wholesale supplies. Locate the various companies online, and then call them directly to place your order over the phone, or for instructions for mail orders. You can find the contact information for most companies on the website where it says ‘contact us’ or ‘about us.’

You can also purchase your supplies through discount stores in your area. However, you should be aware that you will not be paying wholesale prices. You will be paying discounted retail prices. Wholesale prices are much cheaper – especially when you make purchases in bulk quantities.
